My name is Ed Jeavons. I am a painter and printmaker based in the UK, and I also spend a lot of time in China where I lecture in Fine Art. I have a BA (Hons) in Fine Art from Leeds Metropolitan University and a Masters in Fine Art from Chelsea College of Art and Design, London. Please check out my Bio section for details of exhibitions e.t.c.
My work combines abstraction and realism to create images that offer a personal perspective on the way that I see and experience the world. I start off with an idea that I develop through drawings and collages. Through slowly and often reluctantly letting go of my ego the materials take on a life of their own and the idea gets transformed into something else. At its best this process is like a dance with a more sophisticated partner who takes you in unexpected and exciting directions, at its worse it feels like taking an uncontrollable dog for a walk.
The final resolution still contains the seeds of the original impulse but it has been changed into something much richer and more open to interpretation.
